De Aston School
www.de-aston.lincs.sch.uk
With a wide academic and social mix De Aston School, Market Rasen, is a comprehensive in the real sense of the word and says that in every year group its students include two or three potential Oxbridge entrants and two or three pupils with acute special needs.
In all around 1,190 students attend the school from a wide area and many stay on for sixth form learning.
The school, described in an Ofsted report as being "good with many strengths" says it is over-subscribed, but tries not to turn pupils away. A maintained school, De Aston also has a boarding house.
Courses cover a wide range and besides the usual National Curriculum subjects include others such as Dance, Latin, Theatre Studies, Psychology, Media Studies, Law and Politics. Some pupils take up to 12 GCSEs and five A-levels, but De Aston also has a strong range of vocational courses, and excellent special needs provision.
