LACEBY
Lively Laceby offers the best of both worlds.
It is close to Grimsby which has all the amenities of town life, yet remains a village with its own traditional character and community.
With a history going back to around 500AD when the first settlers are thought to have moved in, Laceby has moved with the times and is today a bustling community which offers a wide variety of housing choice.
Those who enjoyed a drink in Laceby in years past found themselves in one of what were said to be the two closest pubs in Britain the Waterloo and Nag’s Head. Today they have been adapted to form one establishment - the Nag's Head.
The village square was in years gone by on the main route of the A46 to Caistor and Lincoln, but today Laceby is by-passed. It was in this square that the old statute fair was once held, the event being the annual hiring of farmworkers and their families.
Laceby parish church is dedicated to St Margaret and stands prominently in the centre of the village. The tower and nave date back to the 11th Century but the remaining parts of the building were entirely rebuilt in 1870-71.
With a variety of local shops and a number of thriving community groups and oprganisations Laceby is also home to the Manor Golf Club which enjoys a superb rural setting with views of the Lincolnshire Wolds and beyond.
