Messingham
Like many other village communities across Northern Lincolnshire Messingham has a long history, being mentioned in the Domesday Book.
Over the centuries it has been one of the area's larger villages, but really began to expand following World War 11 when housing development brought about a big rise in population - today there are around 4,000 residents.

Reflecting the size of its population Messingham now has four public houses, two supermarkets and 10 smaller shops.
This is a village with a good community “feel” and its social life is enhanced by a number of local organisations. There is a village hall, well equipped playing field and a 20 acrea recreation area.
Messingham is also home on its western boundary to the Grange Park leisure complex, which provides facilities for golf, angling, tennis, bowls and has a touring caravan site.
The village was also at one time home to quarries which provided sand and which, now discarded, are used as an angling complex and nature reserve.
