WINTERINGHAM
Once described as one of the most beautiful of all English villages, Winteringham has its roots in Roman times.
For it was here that the road known as Ermine Street crossed the Humber to Brough on the North Bank before continuing to York.
The village has about 330 houses and lies about eight miles from Barton and the Humber Bridge.

Modern Winteringham is a lively community and the village regularly receives visitors from across the country who visit the famous Winteringham Fields, a Michelin-starred restaurant with an international reputation which is situated near the centre of the village.
The village also has two public houses, The Bay Horse and The Ferry Boat Inn.
There is a primary school in the village and the Village Hall is used throughout the week by the Winteringham Under-5s and a School’s Out Club.
Several other clubs/associations use the hall as their base including the Parish Council, the Youth Project, The Humberside Club (for pensioners), the WI and the Bingo Club.
Within the village there are a Church and Methodist Chapel, a butcher’s shop and a village store/Post Office.
