Winterton
Situated five miles north east of Scunthorpe Winterton is a small town of around 5,000 people and like so many other Northern Lincolnshire communities has developed over centuries.
Its roots go back to Roman times and various artefacts have been found there including mosaic floors.
The town’s history is also reflected in All Saints' Church which overlooks the market place which itself is surrounded by historic buildings. The church has a tower and nave dating to the 11th Century.

A distinctive feature of the town is he local stone used in many of its buildings.
Each year Winterton hosts a mid-summer show which has been held for over a century.
The town is also well known for Winterton Carrs, an area of low lying land which has been drained and is now widely used by ramblers and cyclists.
The town has two football teams, Winterton Rangers and Dale Park.
Rangers were founded in 1934 and are today a go-ahead club with excellent facilities.
These include a modern well equipped clubhouse and a new seated stand and dugouts The club says its ground and facilities can now be considered one of the best in the Northern Counties East League.
