Beverley
Beverley Races have been enjoying record crowds in recent years.
It’s all a far cry from 314 years ago when racing first came to life on the Westwood – 1,174 acres of common ground standing high above the ancient town.
Its survival over the years as East Yorkshire’s only racecourse – it is within an hour’s drive from Northern Lincolnshire – is testimony to the loyalty of locals who, in 1690, raised money for the first stands at a meeting in Beverley’s Tiger Inn.
Today Beverley is a modern vibrant course with corporate hospitality, picnic parks, themed events, giant TV screens, modern bars and easy betting facilities in all enclosures.
The Westwood, with its fine turf, undulating contours and demanding uphill finish to the winning post, is a real test for any racehorse.
And the course has become a stepping stone for many Royal Ascot winners in recent years.
Beverley Racecourse is located approximately one mile from the town centre, 10
Miles from Hull and 13 miles from the M62 motorway. The racecourse is well signposted when you arrive at Beverley.
There is ample free car parking at the racecourse.
